Council vote delayed on proposed William Street hotel

The Perkins house, built in 1880 on West William Street, could become part of a hotel if a developer's plan is approved by Delaware City Council. ▲The construction of a 3-story hotel addition to a 19th-century house on West William Street again was debated before Delaware City Council on July 9. The plan had been scheduled for its third reading, after which council ordinarily casts a vote, but the vote was delayed by Mayor Carolyn Kay Riggle, based on the request of Councilwoman Lisa Keller. Another resident who spoke June 25 urged council to let Manos renovate the Perkins house and build the hotel. Manos earlier cited Main Street Delaware awards he received for other renovation projects in the city.

Multi-use hotel site proposed in Caldwell

CALDWELL — Three new multi-use facilities including a hotel could be coming to downtown Caldwell in the space where the Saratoga Hotel once was. Once an agreement is reached, the project will need final approval from City Council and the urban renewal agency. REQUEST FOR PROPOSALSThe Caldwell Urban Renewal Agency released a request for proposal in February that gave developers until May 14 to respond. A request for proposal is a competitive process that gives developers opportunity to submit their plans for the site. Each proposal complied with the requirements of the request, but City Council recommended Gardner's proposal to the urban renewal agency.

Land for proposed Kiba dam earmarked for hotel

As it stated in IN SUMMARYThe site for the proposed Kiba hydropower project in mid-western Uganda had apparently been earmarked for a high-end tourism hotel. "…the site where the [Kiba] hydropower [project] is proposed was…earmarked for a tourism hotel of 100-bed capacity, intended for [a] high-end tourists facility…" Mr Mwandha wrote. According to the letter, basing on the experience of the Karuma hydropower plant the proposed Kiba dam would not be compatible with the planned tourism development. "I am walking into a meeting; call me later," Mr Mwandha added. "We agreed on a feasibility study," Mr Kasande said on July 12.
